Music Friday: MGK
Happy F*cking Friday Everyone!
Over the past few weeks since the launch of the website we’ve been trying to brainstorm ways that we can get our rebel community more in tuned with URBAMERICAN and find ways, other than our apparel, to express our personality a bit more. It didn’t take much time to decide - MUSIC!Music can bring all walks of life together and that’s what we are all about. URBAMERICAN is more than an apparel brand, it’s a community of like minded individuals who live life to the fullest and DON’T GIVE A FUCK!
That being said, we’re stoked to be starting New Music Friday! Every Friday on the blog we will be sharing a new song or artist that resonates with our style and brand - hopefully it’ll help giving you all some new tunes to listen to. If you have any recommendations for new bands that you think we should feature - let us know! We are always looking for new music to listen to - it cures our broken souls.
Our New Music pick of the week is….
DRUM ROLL PLEASE.....Machine Gun Kelly!
Now I’m sure many of you have heard of MGK long before this blog post, BUT this isn't always about giving you artists you’ve never heard before. Often times it’s also about giving you guys an inside glimpse of the personality behind URBAMERICAN and it has A LOT to do with music. If you’re ever curious about what music we listen to while printing your orders? I’d say a good 65% of the music is usually Machine Gun Kelly. So now, let’s get into the why. The part where we explain WHY we think that his music, especially his latest song, is worth a listen… or 100 listens.
In honor of Machine Gun Kelly’s newest song 'I Think I’m OKAY' featuring YUNGBLOOD and Travis Barker, we have chosen him as our New Music Artist of the Week. Not to mention, we are heading to his concert in LA this Sunday and it’s going to be siiiick!
There is no denying that MGK has attitude by the boatloads; but who can blame him? This is an artist who has clawed his way through the ranks, paying his fair share of dues along the way. His story is truly one from rags to riches - starting in his hometown of Cleveland, Ohio to now traveling the world and sharing his talent with his diehard fans. He is truly unstoppable!
Always backed with an amazing band and a crowd of fans who religiously follow, he can fill the room of whatever venue he plays - with a screaming crowd always outside of every show waiting for his arrival! MGK makes music that truly resonates with his fan base, sharing his struggles in a way that is very relatable and real but still making his message about overcoming the obstacles and the bullshit and becoming whatever you want to be. HELL TO THE FUCKING YEAH!
I could go on and on about his talent - truly I could! But I want to put the spotlight on his new liberating single ‘I Think I’m Okay’. This song is the perfect summer-time jam! It encompasses elements of alternative, rock, rap, hip-hop & hardcore music with a unique contrast of intense and dark lyrics - creating a truly badass vibe. This song has been on the top charts since it’s release and its totally understandable why! Even the music video is oozing with attitude - if you haven't seen this masterpiece yet, watch it NOW.
The raucous response from his fans on this most recent tour shows how truly impactful the song has been to the masses. Of course, this song wouldn't be what it is without the England punk sensation, YUNGBLOOD, and the legendary Travis Barker from Blink 182. This trio may be just what the music industry needed to shake things up a bit. Join us this weekend and let’s celebrate some good music - tickets for his Sunday show in LA can be found here!
Till next week - keep the music LOUD!

Quarantine is the pits. While it’s important to stay safe and distant from others during this time, the walls in our office do start to feel like they are closing in on us at times. Does anyone else feel like that? So, we decided to take matters into our own hands with two simple words - road trip.
Ozzy is being Knighted!?

A Black Sabbath fan has petitioned 3 times to get Ozzy Osborne knighted by the Queen of England herself. With nearly 20,000 signatures already submitted, it looks like the legend of metal may become a Sir before we know it!
